People need their copium. We saw it with millennials (sorry) and the LGBT. The pushback needs to come first so people can say "oh thank goodness I can finally admit how I felt the whole time, I was just trying to fit in by going along with them" - they won't admit they were wrong until they feel it's socially acceptable
