As a child, I recall being far away from home, and by chance (dumb luck) running into a teacher who was with their partner.

I will never forget the look of fear in the teacher's eyes, worried that their secret could somehow now be exposed. I recall, telling them that they made a cute couple, and the teacher tearing up, and thanking me. At the time, I never told anyone what I had learned, because I knew better.

That is not the type of America, we need to go back to. That was not America at its best, and nothing about that was "great". But as fascist, that is the America, Donald Trump and JD Vance would want for everyone, today.
