   As a child, I recall being far away from home, and by chance (dumb luck) running into a teacher who was with their partner.
   
   I will never forget the look of fear in the teacher's eyes, worried that their secret could somehow now be exposed. I recall, telling them that they made a cute couple, and the teacher tearing up, and thanking me. At the time, I never told anyone what I had learned, because I knew better.
   
   That is not the type of America, we need to go back to. That was not America at its best, and nothing about that was "great". But as fascist, that is the America, Donald Trump and JD Vance would want for everyone, today.

     "You suffer from a mental illness, and need treatment to be made better."
     
     That used to be the political and social stance in America toward all LGBTQ+ members. If elected, that is what Donald Trump and JD Vance will support.
     
     I am not a member of the LGBTQ+ community, but I would not wish to see people labeled as "unwell" or "dangerous" or "predators" simple because they love another consenting adult. I would not want America where you could legally lose your job, once more, because you were different from someone else.
     
     We're all people. We're all individuals. But Trump's idea of America, the fascism he upholds and envisions, would very much, not see justice or society as fair and equal.
