You force the opposing party to discover and present factual matters and make legal argument respecting them. You force them to risk loss and costs in order to facilitate settlement, and especially where you're in the wrong. Where they're coming for everything you own any way, what's the risk of defending? That you may end up owing an extra $10 million in attorneys fees? SMFH.
