      another misunderstanding: voting is a survey, not a soapbox. voting a certain way to "make a statement" doesn't work. if your state/province has a referendum on ending prison slavery (for example), and you vote no, because you don't like the way it will be named or funded, then your vote was: no, don't end prison slavery. nobody is going to ask what you meant by your vote, aside from your friends & family. people will read the results and say "N people don't want to end prison slavery."
