I once took a bus from Barcelona to Malaga and there were people having regional debates about who invented what. One woman claimed that the Catalan invented opera and burst into song (and had an amazing voice, received much applause)

Guy I was sitting next to told me it happened all the time, but he and I were drinking, so I'm not sure if he was putting me on or my bad Spanish was the issue
