@berkberkman@shitposter.world @coolboymew@shitposter.world Indie animation (or animation outside unaffected by Hollywood) have seen growth cuz the industries in the U.S are stagnant.

They don't have to deal with bloated studio fees and middle men vultures and have an easier time funding the now cheaper work costs through crowd-funding and merch that isn't funko pops and miscellaneous Hot Topic stuff.

Also I'd hesitate to say the local industries care about action and have gladly let Japan dominate that genre. I'd consider them more slice of life comedies with some occasional punching.

The last true action cartoon was like Gen Rex and Sym titan from 2010-11 and the closest since was Rise of TMNT (2018). I mean in terms of having fight scenes with effort put in and having an actual big bad.
