I think the easier sell is why are we paying for Israel's defense and geopolitical positioning? If Israel were wiped off the map, that would allow for a bilateral relationship with the middle east in a general sense, which is more stable, and giving Muslims a few extra square miles really doesn't change much landwise. It's would be a win for everyone except Israel.

On the flip side, trying to control the Muslim countries in the middle east in the midst of a trilateral relationship is a fool's errand, and wiping them from the earth is as impossible. We couldn't even hold Iraq or Afghanistan.

There's really only one intelligent geopolitical position to take.
