Back in the day (2018 or so given circumstantial memories and what else I was doing in the group chat, fucking with specific builds of MAME), this guy got a Twitter ban for some gay reason and said fuck it I'm using not-Twitter (Mastodon) and starting my own instance.

Within a few months he suddenly "always was a girl" and decided to go down that path. His now ex-friend who used to be really into quirky shitposting had a take on Mastodon that is burned into my head which I shall paraphrase.

"Mastodon isn't even funny to laugh at retards on, it took my friend from me, if you use it you will gain a hatred of the word "Estrogen" and never want to hear it again."

To him, Mastodon was a front for a groomer ring, like Roblox/VRC/Discord are seen as now.
