@swampwitch yeah like, every now and then I'll be in the mood to listen to Seasons in the Abyss or their first two albums (which are more fun because they're just clearly doing Venom-influenced edgy bullshit) but I always am reminded of how they can make pretty much anything lame by trying too hard to be edgy while also being super serious about it

to be fair though this applies to a lot of metal and Slayer is probably to blame for a lot of that given how big of an influence they were on death metal. we need to retvrn to when metal was stupid and silly and theatric
