Desperate to earn back the money (and to create a showcase for C#), Microsoft wrote a second version of the game, Bedrock Edition, for consoles and cellphones.

This edition is sterile, monetizing the game completely, and forcing you to become a registered developer paying a share to Microsoft to be able to mod.

The "Deluxe" Edition sells you a bunch of "items" that have value only in Bedrock, because you get them and more for free in Java Edition.
