People sometimes don't realize how hard milestones are. Like your first pull-up (at least after the age of say 25..., when you're 12 it's MUCH easier).
I probably spent a week just hanging from the bar for 30 seconds to get enough grip strength and many weeks doing negatives.
I was doing this outside in a park and routinely 8-10 year old kids would wonder what I'm doing, not talk to me (cuz no talking to strangers) and clamber up the posts and bars like monkeys and climb across, pull themselves up and probably laugh at the old fat guy (definitely old to them) just hanging there and sweating.
