@MarcusAnthonyCyganiak @laurenshof.online no, they're trying to get people to include non-ActivityPub software when referring to Fediverse if it's still a "federated" system, but it doesn't really count when you're only federated with yourself...

They're making an entirely different protocol for some reason that's *very* corporate.

They don't make the distinction between ATproto and BlueSky being an "Appview" for ATproto. This is very confusing and doesn't really allow much room for other businesses to grow on ATproto. I say this because they've basically created a situation where when discussing Bluesky, people conflate Bluesky and ATproto, not leaving much room for any other business to adopt ATproto and have themselves seen as *not* BlueSky.

Hope that makes sense.

In the end, at least from me personally, any software that isn't directly integrating AP is not part of the Fediverse. You can't federate with yourself and call yourself part of the Fediverse, that doesn't really make much sense.
