- Embed this notice@charliebrownau @db @AsperDuo @Fash-E I find the Flat Earth phenomenon fascinating. Have you considered, you know, checking? Pretty simple, really. All you need is an old surveyor's theodolite and some basic math and map reading skills to do it. Just set up on a known spot (a brass benchmark would be ideal) and take a reading on a mountain peak and then check the distance and do the math and see if the reading correlates to what your topo map says. I am an old gold prospector and did a lot of dead reckoning navigation before the advent of GPS, and I know for sure I could do it.
