I go back and forth about cutting. I usually look at the person is active on Threads, Bluesky, or Twitter. If they are, I usually cut them (I am on an instance not federating with Threads at the moment). Most people don't have time to do what I do. I found the biggest drop offs were academics and journalists. Most went to Bluesky or returned to Twitter. I think the need to replicate networks is vital to both. But some inactive account do pop back to life sometimes!
