Standing stones aplenty in Aberdeenshire.

No shortage of castles either. On the beaten track, castles are Slains and Old Slains, Dunnottar and Fyvie. Off the beaten track favourites at Gight, (also a great wee walk) and Tolquhuon.
You can walk, cycle from Braes o Gight back to Pitmedden, mostly off-road and take in Gight Castle, Haddo House, Tolquhon and Pitmedden Garden on the way. A fair walk, but it has 4 cake stops and a bus back to nearly the start.
