Reply limiting also let's marginalized people post without fear of drive by racism/trolling/etc

It's a way to prevent vent posts from attracting the most obnoxious reply guys or sealions.

Not every post on Masto needs to be a debate. This isn't reddit. A bunch of commenters yelling "that's not true" only drives engagement with a post here and ensures more people see it.
