There is no "algorithm", if you follow a person, you will see all of their posts in your feed. If you follow too many people, your feed will look like a rapid conveyor belt of random stuff, which is not convenient.
Therefore, at least for me, it makes sense to try to only follow folks who you find genuinely interesting to interact with. You may notice that i often reply to your posts or reposts, this is because i follow not that many people and your posts don't get lost in my feed 🙂
