@pgcd I don't think you understood my post at all. The most important thing about safety features is not whether it saves the most money.

I also don't think you are taking into account how many years we have been asking for these features, only to be told it "isn't the right time yet". What's that MLK quote from Letter from a Birmingham Jail about the white moderate telling us we should "wait for a more convenient season"?

I guess what it boils down to is this: do you want Black folks on the fediverse now? Or would you rather wait to make us feel safe here (and effectively prevent most of us from staying) until later, so it saves y'all and Mastodon the most money? Which coincidentally burns us out and drives away the Black folks who are here now?

Is this the first time you've engaged with Black perspectives on this issue? How long have you been on the fediverse? Cuz I've been here for a little over a year and I've been having to put up with high levels of racism the entire fucking time. So don't talk to me about what's most "cost effective" when you aren't having to put up with all this bullshit.
