LAGEOS-1 is a passive 400kg brass/aluminum/glass/germanium sphere. The top one is a big metal sphere with 426 round glass reflectors embedded into it. Below is a plaque with three drawn images of Earth in vertical formation. The top is our planet 268 million years ago when the continents were bunched together, the middle is the present day, and the bottom is the estimated position of the continents in 8.4 million years (the time when the satellite will fall to Earth). LAGEOS-2, based on the original LAGEOS design, was built by the Italian Space Agency and launched on October 22, 1992.</div><footer></footer></article></li></ol></footer></blockquote>
