You know what’s especially sad about this?
Imane Khelif got into boxing because the men in her village were violent towards her. She was athletically gifted, they felt threatened by her, and therefore picked fights with her.
Because of this, she had to learn how to dodge punches. She got so good at dodging punches from her male harassers, that she became a boxer.
And when she became a boxer, she had to struggle to pursue it because her father didn’t approve of girls being boxers.
But now she’s at the Olympics, living her dream, and what happens? People question her womanhood.
That’s a kick in the teeth if there ever was one.
