@feld @kaia @lain you absolutely deserve special consideration if you've been here longer (this includes immigrants from previous generations.) first of all there's no obligation for people here already to take in more unless they want to and historically people in america have always opposed certain levels of it if actually asked. second is that it's the equivalent of share dilution in a company.

I agree that assimilation only happens with time but if your rate of influx is high then people just stop assimilating.
