:gummythink: that is true. My dad got a 286 when I was in elementary school and it's the whole reason I got into them. I remember messing around with GWBasic back then.

Kinda makes me think of that One Laptop per Child program. The group that started it wanted to get kids low cost computers, but Intel got upset they were all AMD machines. Even though none of them were AMD branded, Intel was upset their hardware wasn't going to the developing world ... and so Intel started undercutting AMD ... to compete with OLPC 🤣
