@BowsacNoodle @givenup D&D isn't even that bad to begin with, in that respect.
D&D is pretty bad in terms of crunch though, recommend Savage Worlds, or Engine Heart!

That said, RPGs aren't for most kids; basically only the ones that can rotate the apple in their mind will enjoy it. (Good for detecting them at least.)
The more concrete rules of boardgames will work better with the others, such as Deliverance. Which I haven't actually played, but as far as I can tell is roughly "Spirit Island but Christian".
I need to go chase them up again about stocking it...
