they can only adapt to weapons of similar size to themselves iirc.
a warships phaser would overwhelm a single drones shields for example.
the power output of the deathstar is so far out of the league of anything in the star treck universe its not even funny.

the death stars laser power output is 41 030 000 000 times that of the borg cubes shield

even a single super star destroyer could output twice the energy of that shield in turbolasers alone, ignoring the ion cannons and stuff
