If you're an ironworker and you mention something about the quality of the steel, your local's reputation is at stake and the guy running your crew might want to check with one of the more experienced guys to see if he noticed anything and at least try to make sure things are covered. A buddy of mine used to be an officer in his union and said that he'd always pair the A listers up with the C listers so there'd be at least one guy who could spot problems.
