I would need the DoD to explain better what they mean here. How is a recharging mission for a battery better than a refueling mission for a fossil fuel engine? If they're waiting for batteries to be more energy-dense than hydrocarbons, it probably will happen eventually, but not any time soon. That's a strange rationale for electric tanks.
And safety? What happens when you fire a round into a lithium ion battery?
