- Embed this notice@gnarley_boot @kirby I use pkg and there's really no more problems then you'd have with apt. Although it's frustratingly difficult for me to catch pkg right before an upgrade, so packages can be left in limbo for months until the next FBSD upgrade is ready and stable enough for an install. For the record, this is mostly because it breaks programs for no freaking reason, forcing me to install from source, which after a pkg install is like having your nuts in an ever tighter vice.
That said you really should install from source anyway so...🤷
Package management is a pain in the ass though if you like GUI package maintenance programs like synaptic. FreeBSD from what I found really has nothing that compares.
