The precursor¹ set the stage for this part of the photo shoot.
I'm opening with the same photo to remind of the layout before I do the detailed photos of the parts relevant to actual tea.
Today's tea is a 武夷山 (Wǔyíshān or "Mount Wuyi") 雀舌 (quèshé or "Sparrow Tongue") variant of 毛尖茶 (máojiān chá or "hairy tip tea"). It doesn't look like a maojian because the titular silver hairs of maojian are lost in the pan-frying used to make this kind. It is, nonetheless, a maojian in that it is made from the "silver" tips of new growth only.
This is, naturally, a very labour-intensive process leading to a very expensive tea. (This two-serving sample was about the equivalent of $10US. **In the nation of production!**)
The resulting tea is a bit finicky to brew, but makes a great sipping tea. (And I will CUT anybody who puts sugar or milk into it!)
Alt text, as usual, has more details.
