You gain it faster through compromise and abandoning principles (politicians, corrupt businesses), but is it really the same type of power that a proper leader builds? I guess it's greater in that the first can order a hitman on the second, but the second is the kind that makes people grab a shovel and help the leader bury a body without being asked (metaphorically of course). It's the "rule by fear or rule by love" mentality, innit?
