Breakfasting on persimmon and yogurt. Persimmon is called "kaki" in Japanese. Kaki (persimmon), to me, is a flavor of Japan in autumn. I started to like it more after I came to the US.
I have a complex relationship with Japan--I don't like certain aspects of Japanese society, esp. how women are oppressed and how JP society disfavors individual uniqueness. The US is my chosen country and New York is my chosen home.
That said, tangible part of JP culture (esp. food culture) I do embrace.
