Satan's been around forever and is present in the gospels
No. There is no Hebrew word for "Satan." It's "adversary" and translated Satan some places and enemy or adversary others. It's arbitrary.
In Greek, it's diablos. It's not a god or demon. It literally just means "to throw across one's path" ... e.g. a trial or adversity. When Jesus says "Get behind me Satan" to Peter, it could have just as easily been translated "Get behind me my enemy" or "Get behind me you who causes me to stumble."
Even the "Satan in the desert" story uses the word as adversary. The Jews/Greeks had no concept of "The Devil." The entire origin story of Lucifer is formed from a single passage in Isaiah and Ezekiel ... and it was formed by the Catholic church well after the time of Jesus.
Modern Christians don't know their own history.
