@onan The children's testimony was lent credibility by significant child psychologist and child advocate support and in the 1990s there were many lawsuits against doctors for their "repressed memory" recovery, and the APA defended them. Insurance companies settled their cases because they were afraid they would lose but the APA wanted to fight. The concept took over a decade to get scientific consensus to declare it discredited.
