I’m still mad I can’t use control characters in my passwords

As for the length a fun game to play is generate a massive password, set it, and then start trimming characters from the end. Some websites (iirc fb did this at one point years ago) will truncate your passwords without telling you.

My favorite instance of it was when I was in college I realized that the centos login would only read the first 8 characters and wouldn’t fail if you just put in your password + a lot of other shit. These systems were the same that the sysadmins used so it was quite a “yikes” moment
