I'm unchurched (Rev. 18:4) and can tell you that my faith has never been better. I was leaned on pretty hard by the pastor of my last church, who needed a "maintence man" - someone to serve the bitchy men and women of the congregation.
As you say, (in a different way) God doesn't need any of us to get His will done - but the will of the congregation...that's a different story, isn't it?
Please hang in there. Not necessarily with the "church", but with God.
