@Jain so, it kinda sucks that this happened, but even more so that the tax office is just unresponsive to why exactly they got their status removed.
and so, considering Mastodon is going more international anyway, it going for a 501(c)3 org makes sense.
and if it enables them to get more funding to pay their developers better, then that's all fair.
this isn't as much "corpo bad" as people make it out to be.
