For over two decades I was a rabid Russia hater. The Georgia war really started to give me first doubts.... because I know we encouraged Saakashvili to shell a barracks in exchange for huge funds and support (same as ukraine). When he did it however, we on purpose withdrew all support of Georgia, hoping that they would holocaust Georgians and give us a propaganda victory. The Georgian Holohoax was supposed to force Medvedev (it was timed so he would be in office) into a treaty of versailles, and weimar Russia situation. They absolutely refused to genocide, and no one in Washington could figure out why.
I have become a huge Russiaboo (@VaxxSabbath can confirm) seeing this shit, how they behaved in the war on terror (they let us fly bombers and wounded over their territory), how they behaved in Syria and beyond... and finally watching this Ukraine war Ive seen them:
1. refusing to act until wmd's were involved
2. willing to talk at every step
3. inviting our inspectors (like in syria)
4. avoiding civilian casualties (waiting for spring to turn off the power)
5. not retaliating for brits sinking their flagship, or destroying infrastructure, despite being able to
6. not killing western leaders (or ukrainian ones) having fucking conferences in kiev on how to kill russians
They have shown remarkable levels of restraint in this war, and although I disagree (in war, restraint is a sin) the patience is interesting to see.
