It's a software distribution

You're talking web browser (an app) behavior versus Phanpy (an app) behavior

You need an app of some sort to view anything running Mastodon

One of the biggest unspoken issues is that each app (seemingly) has an entirely different feature set specific only to itself

Talk to our young Gargron about that

So there is no "Mastodon itself"
