Not sure how relevant it is today because it is a long time ago, but they just didn't like to play along at all. Ideally you want to use the iGPU when you're not doing graphical intensive stuff to save battery and then switch to nvidia when you need to. (Using software like Bumblebee)

I couldn't get this to work on that laptop whatsoever and eventually I just gave up and just solely used the nvidia card instead. Made the machine run out of battery a bit quicker, but saved me a lot of headache.
