I recently got into an argument with a rather learned fellow, who took objection to my analysis that the 2nd Invasion of Iraq was "about the oil." He didn't disagree it was a factor, but he was insistent that George Bush's religious beliefs were equally important. At which point I asked him if he thought Dick Cheney and Halliburton cared about God, or if they simply used God to get a weak and feckless leader to greenlight their quest to pillage a whole country. He seemed annoyed but had no reply
