They did, all the way back in 2016, friends of mine (typically marginalized folks) were DMing me to say shit like "I think that guy's bad news" about folks I was hanging out with & referencing in my writing. At the time I did what everyone does, "assumed I knew better" and made allowances for "dumb Americans." I was of course, wrong. But I made amends eventually; and long before this was obvious to everyone. Hence the bad noise.
