Propaganda works by virtue of human psychology. The doom loop is *addictive* and the promise of simple solutions to complex problems is seductive.
The rage factories (Fox, MSNBC, etc) and their experts who self-promote on SM profit from stoking anger in the echo chambers.
The lines between entertainment and news are awfully blurry and so are those between online/offline media. It's hard to be a self-aware information consumer while awash in a deluge of data.
