    @elementals@social.xenofem.me It just worked. It was minimal enough but still had all the features you'd expect a full DE to have. There was no tablet/touchscreen shit. Very customizable, unlike modern GNOME. It had an actual taskbar without installing addons.

    GNOME 2 is the reason why MATE (which design is entirely based on it) is still a very popular choice.
