I was thinking about that response, "that isn't what that means", and the fact that that person is trusting whoever translated that verse.
Which then made me think of the folks who claim that the Bible is the literal word of God - but are not reading it in the original language.
If you're reading a translation - it's literally not the word of God. It's someone's interpretation of it in another language.
