@Burn @ryo One thing to keep in mind is that in Japan, you can actually go to jail for pirating Japanese stuff, and it's also easier not to pirate. So, I assume the best websites tend to be western. I don't know if most scans are posted directly on western websites, but it seems likely to me. Though I have seen a Japanese website that had scans of a few books and magazines, so those still existed. Probably not hosted in Japan, though, and it wasn't a massive collection of everything like some western websites are. Just what the people running the website happened to scan, and then it probably just spread from there.
