Charlie Stross@sidereal @hannu_ikonen Ehrlich's "The Population Bomb" (1968) has a lot to answer for: it predicted mass famine by the 1970s, completely missing Borlaug's green revolution and the phase 4 demographic transition. But it was immensely influential, spreading baseless fear and alarm in a way calculated to inspire elite panic.
