The fact that something contains security vulnerabilities doesn't mean it is broken. It is only broken at the point when these vulnerabilities actually get exploited.
There are many (albeit a bit hacky) workarounds for the stability and security issues you described caused by no microcode updates. A lot of them are included in projects like GNU Boot.
I fully advocate to do activism to make Intel or AMD give us the ability to fix these issues in a better way without their proprietary code.
