I teach computing in middle and high school and this is very real.

I would like to extend the concerns of neo-luddism regarding the de-skilling of workers using automation to the de-skilling of end-users for the sake of profit.

Tech companies have a financial incentive in users having _just_ the right* amount of proficiency. With whatever that bar is getting lower by the decade.

*short of being able to use an alternative.
