It's not too bad if opus is being used to stream (as that delivers impressive audio quality at very low bitrates), but sometimes proprietary encodings with worse quality are used instead.
Some speakers handshake over bluetooth and then switch to 802.11n Ad-Hoc mode to be able to transmit a quality audio stream, but all of those are proprietary.
Really, it's best just to use a cable, where the audio can be transmitted over without the limitations of wireless transmission.
