翠星石 (suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com)'s status on Sunday, 28-Jan-2024 09:14:40 JST 翠星石 @soapone Bluetooth is low bandwidth due to the protocol design, so it's not really possible to stream high-quality audio over it in realtime.
It's not too bad if opus is being used to stream (as that delivers impressive audio quality at very low bitrates), but sometimes proprietary encodings with worse quality are used instead.
Some speakers handshake over bluetooth and then switch to 802.11n Ad-Hoc mode to be able to transmit a quality audio stream, but all of those are proprietary.
Really, it's best just to use a cable, where the audio can be transmitted over without the limitations of wireless transmission. -

wired for the win
a while back I remember reading something about the bluetooth protocol its self cutting down the audio bitrate to something rather low. might look into that too
